n8n property alerts: new listings and price cuts
This n8n workflow runs every morning, searches one property portal through Listingrail, drops everything it has already shown you, and appends the rest to a Google Sheet. A Slack message per listing is built in and switched off. It was run on 28 October 2026 against Zumper (Austin, TX, rentals) and Rightmove (Manchester, rentals) with a free key, and the filter step was checked on the Rightmove rows: first run all new, second run nothing, a lowered price shows as a price cut.
1. Import the workflow
Download listingrail-daily-property-alerts.json (also on GitHub as a gist, with a README). In n8n choose Workflows, then Import from File.
Five nodes: a daily schedule, an HTTP Request to /v1/listings/search, a Code node that keeps the previous price of every listing id, Google Sheets, and Slack.
2. Add your key as a credential
Get a free key on the home page: 100 listings, no card. In n8n create a Header Auth credential with the name Authorization and the value Bearer re_..., then select it on the Search node. The key stays in the credential; it is not inside the workflow file.
3. Choose the search
Open the Search node and edit the JSON body. Sources, countries and filters are listed in the docs; UK and European portals are on the Europe page.
{
"source": "zumper",
"location": "Austin, TX",
"type": "rent",
"limit": 50
}For a UK search use "source": "rightmove" and "location": "Manchester". Add minPrice, maxPrice or minBeds to be charged only for matches.
4. Point it at a sheet, and Slack if you want it
Make a sheet whose first row is:
status, id, source, price,
previous_price, currency,
beds, baths, address, url,
seen_atChoose your Google Sheets credential and that sheet on the Sheets node. To get Slack messages, enable the Slack node and pick a channel. Then activate the workflow; the seen listings are remembered only while it is active.
Credits per day
One credit per listing the search returns, so a limit of 50 costs at most 50 credits a day, about 1,500 a month. A day with no results costs nothing. The 100 free credits cover two days at limit 50, or a week at limit 10. Packs and plans are on the fares table. If you want Listingrail to do the comparing, a monitor stores the search and reports changes on its own.
Questions
Does it cost anything to try?
A free key has 100 credits and needs no card. One credit is one listing returned, so a daily search with limit 50 uses at most 50 credits a day.
What does an empty day cost?
Nothing. A search that returns no listings, or fails at the portal, is not charged, and the filter step passes no items on, so Sheets and Slack do not run.
Why is the first run full of rows?
The workflow has not seen any listing yet, so every one is new. From the second run on only new listings and price drops appear.
Does it need a published workflow?
Yes for the memory. n8n keeps the seen ids and prices in the workflow's static data, which is saved only for active workflows, not for manual test executions.
Can I watch several cities?
Duplicate the Search node per city, or use a monitor, which stores the search on our side and posts changes to a webhook. See the monitors page.
